After our conversation, I read the term "Alpha Woman" in a Facebook post (where else?). I hate that I only just discovered the phrase "Alpha Woman". It's like slapping your forehead and thinking "I could have had a V-8!"
I did an intensive 10 minute google search of "Alpha Women" so I could blog intelligently. (chuckle!) Here is what I learned from the 7 articles I glanced at: An Alpha Woman is a social conductor. She has lots of friends and is comfortable being the center of attention. She is stylish because having a good sense of style gives you power. She is good at social cues, she's no-nonsense, health-conscience, supremely confident and self assured, she has high integrity and is a natural leader. She knows what she wants, how to ask for it and how to obtain it. She appreciates the good and learns from the bad. She also does not like children.
What? I know, that was weird for me too. Why are Alpha Women so great and then heartless? Obviously the authors of those three articles claiming AW's are child-haters have never seen a Momma Bear in action. There is nothing in god's green universe that can so quickly change a Beta Woman into a Supreme Alpha Woman as the instinct to protect her young. Those authors are stupid or possibly part of the Freedom Caucus (you know who they are, those nice men in Congress who want our futures to progress back to the 1890's).
One of the articles I googled was a test to find out if you are an Alpha. I'm nearly 50/50 between Alpha/Beta. Holy shit! It's the story of my life! Middle age, middle America, expanding middle and NOW middle Alpha/Beta! Royal poop.
The Alpha/Beta thing got me to thinking about group dynamics. Take a look at these descriptions I borrowed off the internet. P.S. My sincere thanks to whomever wrote this list! Please don't sue me - I've got nuthin'!
Betas: Side-kicks or enforcers of alpha leadership.
Nu's: Nu's are Fillers. They provide conversation, gossip and support for the Alpha.
Zeta's: The Jokester, comic relief, clown, goofball of the group. Most groups have a female jester.
Omega's: The Victims, the bullied, the weaklings. They are picked on or treated with loving condescension.
Sampi's: The Invisibles, the forgotten girls whose quiet or shy demeanor often means they are not included or counted.
I can see myself in most of these descriptions varying with each of my friend/family/work groups. My siblings would say that I'm definitely the Alpha - you know, being so stylish and all. Though bossy and center of attention could play into their opinions. I have friend groups in which I am easily the Alpha and I have other friend groups where I may be a Sampi or possibly a Jokester.
Kinda explains that 50/50 Alpha/Beta test score split doesn't it?
