Yoga! Been threatening to do this for awhile and today was the day! I have to admit, as I drove to the studio I suddenly became very nervous! Isn't that weird? Anyway, I did pretty well and I'm really glad that I went. Will have to decide what, where and IF I go again. New day - New experience huh???

The random pictures available on the free photo sight I search for this blog are simultaneously humorous, kinda boring and terrifyingly everyday. A lot of the free pictures I see are from public events attended by regular folks at events like a St. Paddy's day parade or Warrior Dash races or Sumo Wrestling matches or at meetings of mandatory plaid and/or floral shirts - like this pic. I wonder what pictures of me are out there - and I fervently hope they show my good side.

Today was the day! Signed up for the Sweet Corn Challenge back in April. Optimistically planned to ride the 50 mile challenge but with the vacation taking time away from "training" and a few other things that came up - we decided to ride 25. Waking up early to fog and potential rain was daunting but we loaded up the bikes and our water bottles and off we went!
It was a very challenging ride. Lots and lots and lots of hills. I shifted incorrectly and had to walk up one hill but the rest of them I conquered by huffing and puffing and basically hoping for the best. My dear Tour de France Friend has a motto: Slow and Steady. That really seemed to work for her. Her breathing was more even and she always ended up ahead. Tour de France Husband chose to ride the 50 Mile Challenge. He rode for about 4.5 hours. The last four miles of that ride are uphill. God love him, he did it and is looking forward to doing another ride - in a few/several days.
I think we all want to train a little harder (aka: more consistently) for next year and try it again. It was fun to push ourselves. It's rewarding to be fit enough to do as well as we did.
On a side note: people in bike shorts and shirts come in all shapes and sizes and they all look ridiculous.
