Day 69

18,315 Fitbit Steps!  Big Fitness Day!  Boxing class was tough but I am getting stronger and doing the exercises with better form.  Met Kathy for a three mile run.  We actually chatted and ran at the same time.  Quite frankly, my 50 year old muscles would have loved to chat over coffee instead, but we ran and it felt good (-ish).  Did chores and walked the dog.  I maintain a strong 2nd place with my Fitbit friends.

I've been trying to eat cleaner.  Less sugar, less bread, less wine, more vegetables and lean protein.  I'm buying more organic foods and reading the labels more closely.  I haven't lost any weight (of course, dammit!) but I have more energy, I'm stronger and I feel good.  Last weekend I ate white bread and felt terrible.  It's interesting to me how quickly my system became sensitive to the wheat and preservatives in the bread.  The other thing I'm trying (this week) is to keep my carbs down to 20% of total calories.  Sandy says, " 1600 calories/day:  30% Protein (120 Grams),  20% Carbs (80 Grams), and 50% Fat (90 Grams)."  Kinda goes against everything the food pyramid taught us back in grade school!  But I don't think whole grains are the same as they were back "in the day".  I sorta think the food pyramid is subsidized by the government and Monsato (conspiracy theory!).  And I think that we are becoming more knowledgable about nutrition and it's effects on long term health (Alzheimer's being one disease where the effects of fat and the brain are being studied extensively).    Today's totals:  84 G. Carbs, 76 G. Protein, 64 G. Fats, 21 G. Sugar (which should probably be added to Carbs.  A decent first day.

Day 69 - Check Plus!
P.S.  Carrie wants to bring attention to this special number and make it a "special day" - not gonna happen!
