There is a meme out there that jokes about getting back to your original weight. But 7 pounds 6 ounces is just not realistic. AhHaHa! (Chuckle!)
It's crazy how concerned we are about the number on the scale instead of the numbers that really matter: LDL, HDL, BMI and body fat percentage. I am on a quest to make the important numbers healthy-er.
When I completed 30 Minutes for 100 Days in 2014, my LDL and HDL numbers were terrific! The Nurse actually complimented me on my numbers and asked what I'd been doing to get such a healthy ratio! Isn't that cool? It wasn't my weight or size she wanted to emulate but my healthy LDL/HDL ratio.
Our future conversations with our friends should sound like, "Giiiirrrrl, you look so healthyyyyy! You must have an amazing LDL/HDL ratio! What have you been doing?" Or if you want to be catty, "Have you seen Maryyyy??? Her LDL/HDL ratios are really out of whack! That Girl needs to get healthyyyyy!"
In the interest of having better numbers and a healthier heart, I ran two and a half miles today. Not consecutively of course. Or fastly. (FYI it is now, apparently, grammatically correct to add LY to any ol' word.)
Here's the thing about my running: I run an 11.5 minute mile. I walk a 13.5+ minute mile. The Short One says it's because I walk with long strides and run with little bounces. She's right of course, but the demonstration of her point, while hilarious, is kinda embarrassing. What's that saying about truth hurting...?
I like running occasionally. Gets my heart pumping and makes me feel like a true athlete. I prefer my mental picture of 'running like an olympian' to what I'm afraid is the 'slow, red-faced middle aged woman' reality. But what the heck, I can run, so I should.
Walking is easier on my joints and feet though. Plus it's way easier to motivate myself to go outside for a walk every day. Whatever it takes to create a habit of exercise!!!
Have a motivated day my Friends! Get workin' on those Healthy Numbers!
